چکیده
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy that is not clearly type 1 or 2 diabetes. Approximately 84% of hyperglycemia cases during pregnancy are due to GDM, while the remaining 26% are due to preexisting type 1 or 2 diabetes, which is defined as diabetes in pregnancy (DIP). The International Diabetes Federation indicates that 1 in 6 infants are born to mothers with some form of hyperglycemia during pregnancy. Accumulated evidence has shown that hyperglycemia during pregnancy not only increases perinatal morbidity and mortality in mothers and children but also increases the manifestation of disease later in life. For example, women with GDM have a higher incidence of preeclampsia (PE), cesarean deliveries, and birth trauma. Their offspring are more likely to be large for gestational age and premature, and to have neonatal respiratory distress syndrome and congenital malformation. Moreover, both the mother and the offspring are

Background: Detecting mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is not only important in prevention of prenatal morbidities but also has significant effect on neonatal and maternal long term outcomes. Today, there are screening tests for GDM but they are time-consuming and expensive, therefore it seems necessary to perform testes that are uses expensive but with higher sensitivity and sp...
متن کاملApplication of Bayesian Latent Variable Model for Early Detection of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Without A Perfect Reference Standard Test by β‐human Chorionic Gonadotropin
Background and Objectives: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a medical problem in pregnancy, and its late diagnosis can cause adverse effects in the mother and fetus. The purpose of this research was to estimate the accuracy parameters of a biomarker for early prediction of gestational diabetes in the absence of a perfect reference standard test. Methods: This study was conducted in 52...
متن کاملP-167: Association between Pregnancy Dietary Iron Intake and Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the most common pregnancy complications affecting approximately 7% of all pregnancies and up to 14% of pregnancies in high-risk populations. Although, dietary iron intake is one of preventive factors for Iron deficiency which leads to less preterm delivery, prematurity, and SGA but iron is a strong pro-oxidant and high body iron levels c...
